Razorbacks Shut out Tigers

The Razorbacks blanked Missouri, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon at Baum Stadium to win their fourth straight game and complete a two-game sweep of the Tigers.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Razorbacks blanked Missouri, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon at Baum Stadium to win their fourth straight game and complete a two-game sweep of the Tigers.

Arkansas moves to 33-13 on the season.

All the scoring came in the bottom of the sixth. Dominic Ficociello led off with an infield single then stole second base. Two batters later, Bo Bigham was hit by a pitch. Matt Reynolds then came in and drove them both in with a pinch-hit double down the left field line.

The Tigers’ biggest threat came in the seventh, when they put two in scoring position, but they weren’t able to bring them home.

Michael Gunn (1-0) earned the first win of his collegiate career for 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen. He struck out one.

Trent Daniel started for the Razorbacks and lasted a career-long five inning, allowing just two hits and striking out four.

Colby Suggs had possibly the most important outing out of the bullpen, coming in in the seventh with runners on second and third, but he got a strikeout to end the threat, then pitched a scoreless eighth.

Barrett Astin earned his eighth save of the season in tossing a scoreless ninth.

Arkansas returns to SEC play on Friday, when they host two-time defending national champion South Carolina. Game one is Friday and set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
