Benton County hopes to restore confidence in voters as changes were made to the election commission.
Last year, some employees were fired after making mistakes in reporting and getting results. County Judge Bob Clinard shifted election commission employees and some of the commission's duties to the county clerk’s office.
Even more changes took place this year.
“We moved into a new building, we're going to have to change up our reporting in procedures from the poll workers and just iron out a few glitches that will probably happen," said Election Commissioner John Brown.
Brown says to be more efficient, save time, and money they've decreased the amount of precincts reporting from 83 to 57.
To get the results to the public more quickly, the commission will post results on the Benton County website.
Voters will have the option to vote electronically and by paper. But Clinard says electronic voting is more accurate. He also says using paper ballots is a waste of natural resources and money.
Polls are open next Tuesday from 7:30 am to 7:30 p.m.
