Kasey Jones, 34, of Fayetteville is wanted as a person of interest in a shooting that left one man injured in Fayetteville Thursday night, police said.

Anyone with information about Jones' whereabouts should call the Northwest Arkansas Crime Stoppers tip line at (479) 790-TIPS or the Fayetteville Police Department at (479) 587-3555.

Lee Charles Brown Jr., 36, was found Thursday night with a gunshot wound to the back in the yard of a residence in southeast Fayetteville. Brown is being treated for his injuries at Washington Regional Medical Center.

The shooting occurred during a large disturbance about 8 p.m. Thursday at a duplex near Fairlane Street and Curtis Avenue, off East Huntsville Road. Initial reports indicate the disturbance involved up to 30 people, said Fayetteville Police Sgt. Craig Stout.

Stout said a second shooting incident also may have occurred but added police were uncertain late Thursday whether that had happened. Five detectives were interviewing at least six witnesses at the police station late Thursday, he said. Stout said having a lot of eyewitnesses is good for the investigation but takes officers "that much longer to sort it all out."

Sharon Wilson, an eyewitness, told 5NEWS she rushed her grandchildren inside her home as shots were fired around 8 p.m. This is the second time in two weeks shots have been fired in this neighborhood, she said. An military veteran who has served two tours in Iraq ran to the scene to help the shooting victim Thursday, Wilson said.

Stout said 911 dispatchers received calls about a large disturbance, followed by calls about shots being fired.

He said there was no indication the incident was gang related.
