Summer Jam Saturday Part of Juneteenth Celebration

The 2012 Summer Jam will be held in Fort Smith Saturday, June 9 at Harry E. Kelly Park. The event is in conjunction with the area’s annual Juneteenth celebration.

Gates open at 2 p.m. The music festival will continue until midnight and include acts like Yung Joc, Zapp, and Mr. Bobby Lopez. Tickets for Fort Smith Summer Jam will sell for $10 in advance at Tip’s Insurance, Jcuts Barbershop and B2 Wireless and $15 at the door and will benefit various non-profit organizations in the area, according to organizers. Fort Smith’s Juneteenth Festival will be held June 15-17 at Martin Luther King Park and Hartgraves Park. The event will include live music, food, vendors, basketball, soccer and softball tournaments, and a car and bike show. A prayer on the lawn even will be held on Father’s Day at MLK Park.
