The College World Series began Friday in Omaha. Rain forced the Diamond Hogs to move indoors for their last practice before Saturday’s 4 p.m. game. As the clock ticks, the Razorbacks are realizing just where they are.
"It's getting exciting, we know we're close now, so we're ready to go," said Junior RHP DJ Baxendale.
It is slowy dawning on the Razorbacks they're in the College World Series, just five wins away from a national championship. The attention from the local fans is nice, too.
"Everybody who came across the table to get autographs were really friendly,” said Dominic Ficociello, a sophomore. “They loved us. They loved being here. We're excited to be here too, because it's such an awesome experience.”
"Getting to practice at TD Ameritrade yesterday, the autograph session, it's been unbelievable the way the fans have welcomed us here,” said Baxendale. “They've treated us like rock stars, I feel like."
One group that won't be so happy to see them is the Kent State Flashes, an underdog from the mid-Atlantic Conference that the Hogs are not taking lightly.
"They're in Omaha for a reason,” said Ficociello. “They went through tough regional, tough super regional. Pretty good pitching team. They get timely hits and can swing the bat a little bit."
