Delta is cutting 25 flights at Memphis International, which includes the flight to and from Fort Smith. The airline cites a lack of passenger demand for the cut.

The plan is to cut the flights by cutting smaller planes and moving  those passengers on larger, more fuel-efficient planes. Delta cites high fuel costs for high ticket prices.

The Atlanta-based operation will reduce flights to more than 20 destinations, bringing the number of flights down to 125 a day from Memphis starting in late August, Delta spokesman Trebor Banstetter told The Commercial Appeal.

Affected destinations include Little Rock, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia and Columbus, Ohio, which are going from three flights daily to two a day, and Tampa, Denver and Springfield, Mo., going from two a day to one a day, according to the report.
