The Franklin County Sheriff has identified a woman who died after her vehicle burst into flames on a rural road northeast of Mulberry on June 23.

The driver was identified as Jessie Mae Lovett, 36, of Van Buren. The state medical examiner determined her cause of death was smoke inhalation, according to Sheriff Anthony Boen.

Lovett’s charred remains were found inside the burned vehicle at the end of White Valley Road in a wooded area of the county north of Interstate 40.

Investigators have not determined what caused the car to catch on fire. Initially, Sheriff Boen said authorities did not suspect foul play.
