Firefighters extinguished several small fires along Armstrong Road in Fayetteville on Thursday that officials say were sparked by a vehicle being towed by a tow truck.
The Fayetteville Fire Department said the tow truck was pulling an older-model Chevrolet Silverado without its rear passenger tire. The friction of the rim along the road sparked the fires, officials said.
One fire extended into a wooded area, officials said
They were mostly contained by 4 p.m.
