Joseph Van Colvin, 53, of Siloam Springs pleaded guilty Monday to 10 counts of possessing child pornography after striking a deal with Benton County prosecutors.
Circuit Judge Robin Green followed prosecutors’ recommendation of a 60-year sentence for Colvin, said Stuart Cearley, chief deputy prosecutor.
In the plea bargain, prosecutors agreed to drop 10 additional counts of possessing child pornography, as well as suspend 10 years of Colvin’s sentence, said Van Stone, Benton County prosecuting attorney.
County sheriff’s deputies traced downloaded child pornography to the internet protocol address on Colvin’s home computer in October 2010. Police secured a warrant to search Colvin’s home in January 2011. Colvin told investigators during the search he viewed child pornography videos on a daily basis, according to Benton County Sheriff’s Office records.
Police found multiple documents with pornography website information listed, along with several pairs of small-sized thongs and panties. Forensic examiners uncovered 575 child pornography images and 82 videos from the three computers confiscated at the scene, according to police records.
