The estate of the late Thomas Stephens has donated $2.2 million to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the hospital announced Tuesday.

Stephens, a former metallurgical engineer who died in October, made the donation to the hospital through stock gifts, life insurance and a bequest. At Stephens’ request, the $2.2 million donation will help fund several programs at the hospital, including vascular anomalies/cleft lip and palate, dental and ophthalmology, as well as the Angel One transport program.

Stephens lived in Hot Springs Village since 1984, when he retired from Kaiser Engineers.

“After a personal experience, Tom was always interested in improving children’s healthc are, and he was amazed at the work being done at Arkansas Children’s Hospital,” Jim Staudt, Stephens’ friend, said in a news release. “When he began making his estate plans, he knew he wanted to support the hospital any way he could.” Click here to read the full story from our partners of ArkansasBusiness.com.
