Principal Resigns After Being Arrested At Bloody Crime Scene

Chris Webb resigned from his position as principal of Farmington High School on Monday.

Chris Webb resigned from his position as principal of Farmington High School on Monday.

Police found Webb bloody and naked while choking a woman last Thursday, according to police records.

The Farmington School Board had planned to call an executive session at Tuesday’s board meeting to address Webb’s employment with the school district. "This is an unfortunate situation for our school. It's an unfortunate situation for our community and it's an unfortunate situation for those families that are involved," said Superintendent Bryan Law.

Law released the following statement late Monday afternoon announcing Webb's resignation: “At approximately 4:15 today, I received the resignation of Christopher Webb as Farmington High School Principal. The Board of Education will act on this resignation tomorrow night at 6:00 P.M. during our regularly scheduled board meeting. There will be no further comment from the school district or board members regarding this matter.”

Police responded to a disturbance call at Webb’s home at 12:13 a.m. on July 19 after a child dialed 911. After seeing blood on the floor, stairs and walls, officers found Webb in an upstairs bathroom with Shannon Shrum, the house’s co-owner, in a choke hold and Webb’s thumb in her eye, according to a Farmington Police Department report.

The prosecuting attorney's office says a juvenile at the home dialed 911.

Webb has worked in the school district for four years without any problems, Law said.

Officers found a knife in the room and a dead dog with its throat slit in the bath tub.

Webb remains in an undisclosed hospital and will be booked at the Washington County Detention Center upon his release, said Denis Dean, Washington County deputy prosecutor.

Dean said Shrum is “doing fine” and keeping a low profile. She was not hospitalized.
