The 5th annual A.G. Russell Knife Event in Rogers attracted vendors and customers from around the world.
Thousands of enthusiasts, buyers, collectors and knife makers filled the John Q. Hammons Convention Center on Saturday for a three-day show featuring demonstrations, exhibits and of course, a large showcase of knives.
Alexander Noot made his first trip to Arkansas all the way from the Netherlands for the event.
"I expressed some interest in meeting Mr. Russell, who organizes the event, and he picked up on this,” Noot told 5NEWS. “He invited me to come over. He and his wife have been really kind in showing me around and showing me the show. So, I booked a plane ticket and just hopped over."
Founder A.G. Russell himself made a special appearance Saturday.
Russell said he has been designing knives for as long as he can remember. He said what started out as a hobby has turned into an international business. He does not plan to stop anytime soon.
"I design knives, I'm very fortunate that I am able to do better and more designs than ever in my life, and I am just having an absolute ball," said Russell.
Russell carries several pocket knives; he even gave 5NEWS a special demonstration.
"This one, and again, it's a design that operates with either hand. In fact, you can open it right side up, upside down and close it the same way,"
The A.G. Russell Knife Event runs again Sunday, August 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hammons center.
Admission for adults is $10, and children ages 6 to 16 are $5.
