Mitchell Continues to Impress at Receiver

The Arkansas football team practiced for the final time in shorts on Sunday, before the first full-pads, full-contact practice on Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Arkansas football team practiced for the final time in shorts on Sunday, before the first full-pads, full-contact practice on Monday.

It appears Knile Davis will have to wait a bit longer to take his first hit.

“We’re still waiting on Knile,” said John L. Smith. “He looks awful good though.”

Smith was also very impressed with the work of Brandon Mitchell at wide receiver. The backup quarterback who is attempting to transition to wideout spent most of Sunday’s practice working with the receivers.

“You look at him, and watching him go through individual drills, trying to split things up, he’s really going to give us some help,” Smith said. “He’s going to do a great job at catching the ball. He’s a big, big target, he’s very athletic. We love what we’re seeing so far.”

Senior running back Ronnie Wingo also took some reps at receiver on Sunday as the Razorback coaches look for depth at a position left thin by graduation and team dismissals.
