Some Northwest Arkansas cowgirls have taken their rodeo performance from the arena to the big screen.
The local ladies are being featured in the family movie “Cowgirls N' Angels” which premiered at Malco Theatre in Fayetteville Tuesday.
The performance group is known as the Sky High Angels. They are the best friends of the main actress' played by Bailee Madison.
"She made us feel so comfortable because we were so nervous," said Cheryl Roles, co-captain. "This was all of our first experience with making a movie."
The movie is about a young girl searching for her father, played by actor James Cromwell.
The cowgirls don't have speaking parts, however they said their role is important in the journey to find the main actress's father who's a cowboy.
"We help find her father for her," Roles said. "We search for him and we ask people at rodeos if they've seen him."
This premiere at home allows the group's family and friends to share this special moment with the cowgirls since it's an experience they will never forget.
"It's a lifetime experience," said Chera Phillips, captain from Huntsville. "I'll probably never get an opportunity. It was a blast."
The director of this team Gloria Roles taught the main actress how to ride and her horse hank was a main star in the movie.
"So he did very well for her so he got to do the whole movie. His name is Prince in the movie, he thinks he's a diva now," Gloria Roles said.
Gloria got tears of joy as she remembers everything the Sky High Angels went through to be in the big screen.
"The girls worked really hard, they are still working hard to make this happen… I'm just proud of them," Gloria said.
The Sky High Angels say they learned all about what happens behind the scenes. They shot the movie in Oklahoma and the group was away from home for about six weeks.
There will be another screening of this movie at the Malco Theatre at 7:30 p.m. in Fayetteville on August 16.
