Ice cream "Olympians" squared off in downtown Bentonville on Saturday for a showdown that was sugary and sweet.

Yarnell’s Premium Ice Cream hosted its first annual "TRYathlon" at the downtown Farmer’s Market. They dubbed the games "The Olympics of Ice Cream.”

The games included an ice cream eating contest, an ice cream scoop stacking challenge and an ice cream sandwich balancing race.

Those who attended were able to sample plenty of free Yarnell’s ice cream.

Organizers said not only was it a great day weather-wise, but they also enjoyed the venue.

“This is my first time to ever be at the Bentonville Square, and the people of Bentonville have been just absolutely fabulous,” said Scoop, Yarnell’s mascot. “We're so happy to be here. On behalf of Yarnell's we say 'Thank you to Bentonville and to downtown Bentonville.'”

Gold, silver and bronze medalists won a variety of prizes, including free ice cream coupons and Yarnell’s T-shirts.

They got to select a “vintage” flavor not yet available in stores.
