The Washington County Fair holds its pageant to crown the next queen as it kicks off its festivities Tuesday.
Kallie Sullivan, Miss Washington County Fair in 2011, said she's been part of the fair since she was a small girl.
"I've been here since I was five, showing rabbits, cows and everything," Sullivan said.
Sullivan said it was a great experience and she's proud to represent the Washington County Fair.
"I'm going to miss being at the fair as a queen and as a contestant. But, I'm excited to be here and it's a great contest for all the girls," Sullivan said.
The older age divisions are judged in several categories including swimsuit, evening gowns and interviews with judges. This year there are 39 total contestants.
This is the pageant's sixth year.
"It's our first year to have it here on the fairgrounds," said Natalie Bartholomew, Washington County Fair secretary.
"That's been really good for the girls that are competing to associate themselves with the fair for the first time,” Bartholomew.
The pageant raises funds for scholarships for young women hosted by the Miss Heart of the Ozarks Scholarship Association.
The winner will represent the Washington County Fair for a year.
"They really have great resumes. They are all intelligent and beautiful," said Lauren Archibald, Miss Teen Washington County Fair 2011.
"It's competitive to earn the crown but it's such an honor," Archibald said.
The next Miss Teen and Miss Washington County Fair competes for the state title in October.
