School officials isolated several Gentry students after realizing measles may have hit a private school.

Ozark Adventist Academy reported two potential cases of measles to the Benton County and Arkansas health departments. Administrators sent the two high school students home for 21 days of isolation after consulting with the Center For Disease Control and health departments, Principal Mike Dale said.

The Center For Disease Control is testing samples from the two students to see if they have measles, Dale said.

Administrators were alerted to the possibility of a measles outbreak when a nurse practitioner noticed a student had a fever and a rash.

Eight other students have also been sent home as a precaution because their vaccinations are not up-to-date.

Health department officials are on the school campus to assist administrators in containing potential cases of the contagious disease. Dale said he believes officials have curbed the measles cases, as the vast majority of the 159-student campus remains unaffected.
