Suspected Gunman Captured in Yell County

A man wanted in a Russellville shooting that left one person injured has been arrested in Yell County, according to police.

Ernest Ramey, 56, of Belleville, is considered a person of interest in connection with a shooting in 4300 block of S. Frankfort around 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to Drew Latch with the Russellville Police Department.

He was found just before 4 p.m. in Yell County, Latch said.

Deputies took Ramey into custody on Chickalah Mountain without incident a short time after Sgt. Dolan Sharp discovered the suspect’s vehicle in a wooded area, according to the Yell County Sheriff’s Department.

He will now be taken back to Russellville.

One person was injured in the shooting and taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center by Pope County EMS, according to Latch. The victim was later taken to Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

The person’s condition is unknown.
