Springdale High School hosted a beauty pageant with a twist. All contestants were senior citizens from the area.
About a dozen contestants came from various nursing homes and retirement communities around Northwest Arkansas participated. Edith Adams, of Fayetteville, won the crowd over when she spoke about the importance of education.
Adams will head to the state competition, where she will represent the district that includes Benton, Washington, Carroll and Madison Counties. The state competition is October 24 in Little Rock.
