The Van Buren Police Department will soon have a new building.
Voters approved a one-cent sales tax earlier this year that will fund the project.
Mayor Bob Freeman said they have hired an architect and they're currently looking for a project manager. The city says they're still not sure where the new police station will be located.
They've narrowed it down to about five or six potential locations.
"The architect is taking the footprint of the police station and placing it on the potential sites to see if it will fit,” said Mayor Freeman.
The mayor said construction probably won't begin until sometime next year.
