John Brown University in Siloam Springs topped a national list of the best colleges in the South Tuesday.

The U.S. News and World Report ranked the university as the best college for the best value in the southern region of the country. The publication also named John Brown University the second best college among 107 regional colleges in the South.

University officials credit the college’s high graduation rate and smaller class sizes for the high rankings. Sixty-nine percent of freshmen were ranked in the top 25 in their class, according to a press release from John Brown University.

The announcement marks the fourth consecutive year the university has been named a top-two college in the region. Five other Arkansas schools reached the top 100 southern colleges: University of the Ozarks (9th), Williams Baptist College (55th), University of Arkansas Pine Bluff (72nd), Philander Smith College (79th) and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith (82nd).
