Events are planned throughout the area to commemorate the eleventh anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
A memorial ceremony will be held in Fort Smith at 8:56 a.m. Tuesday at Fire Station No. 1 on North 5th Street. The event is expected to last approximately 10 minutes.
The Al-Islam Students Association at the University of Arkansas will host a blood drive as part of the international effort called Muslims for Life.
The blood drive will be held in the Multicultural Center, room 403, from 10 am to 4 pm September 11 and 12.
At 9:30 a.m. on September 11th, University of Arkansas Chancellor G. David Gearhart is scheduled to speak to students at the Multicultural Center.
Group representatives say they want to find a way to express love, caring and hope on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 hijackings.
In Bentonville a prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Benton County Courthouse.
Governor Beebe also ordered Arkansas Flags at the State Capitol and all state-owned buildings to be flown at half-staff Tuesday in honor of those who died in the attacks.
