Starved Pit Bull Rescued in Memphis

George Brown, WREG reporting

A Memphis, Tenn., jogger recently came to the rescue of a nearly dead Pit Bull she saw while running.

The woman was running near Summer and Graham when she saw the dog with its ribs sticking way out and barely any energy. She called her mother and asked her to bring a car.

It wasn’t hard to get the year old pit bull to come with them, he was too weak to resist. He was so ill, they asked a veterinarian to put him down.

Instead, Dr. Carolyn McCutcheon saw hope and has been treating the dog now named “Bowie” for heartworm as well as getting him to eat and generally be healthy.

They tell us they chose the name “Bowie” because he has eyes like David Bowie.

A facebook group was set up to share “Bowie’s” story and solicit donations to pay for the dog’s care.

You can make donations to Park Avenue Animal Hospital or go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/113025455511286/
