Five people are facing drug charges after a 17-year-old originally said they broke into his home looking for meth.

Police responded to a call at 134 S. Hartman Ave. in Fayetteville on Tuesday, where a 17-year-old had barred himself into a back bedroom and called 911.

The boy told dispatchers there were several people outside with knives and they were there to hurt him. The teenager then told police the people had entered the house and he was hiding, according to a preliminary arrest report.

When officers arrived, the boy answered the door and said there was just one other person in the house. Police rounded up five people from the house and found two grams of methamphetamine and four meth pipes.

Officers also arrested the boy’s mother, Tahney Sommer, when she arrived home, after they found more methamphetamine and meth pipes in the house. The son admitted to using meth that day, and officers believed the house to be a common place for individuals to use meth, the report states.

Sommer was arrested in connection with possession of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of a minor and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. She remained in the Washington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

The five others were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Robert Broadway, Juan Facio, Dean Porter, Rebecca Porter and Joshua Weston-Hill. They remained in the Washington County Detention Center with bond amounts ranging from $3,500 to $5,000.
