A Bentonville man accused of killing his wife before turning the gun on himself is back in the area after being medically treated in a Little Rock hospital, according to police.

Perry D. Davis, 49, is being further treated at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville for a gunshot wound to the head, Bentonville Police Department Det. J.C. Wiseman said.

“He’s getting better, slowly but surely,” Wiseman said.

Police said Davis shot his 44-year-old wife Kelly in the head in the couple’s home at 804 S.W. Ouachita Drive in Bentonville on Aug. 19.

SWAT teams and police lined the street before entering the home following the shooting.

Kelly was dead at the scene. Davis was rushed to Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville and later transferred to Washington Regional Medical Center. Davis was later taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, where he has remained in critical condition since.

Police are waiting until Davis recovers from his injury before formally arresting him, Wiseman said.

Washington Regional Medical Center officials denied Davis is at the hospital.
