A Fort Smith man was arrested Tuesday after police say he broke into a pharmacy and stole two packs of cigarettes.

Blaine Clinton Ford, 21, was arrested in connection with commercial burglary. He remained in the Sebastian County Detention Center on Wednesday on $3,500 bond.

Police said Ford broke into the Harps Marketplace at 3100 Grand Ave. shortly before 2 a.m. and forced entry into the store’s pharmacy, tripping an alarm system.

The suspect was gone from the scene when officers arrived, but police viewed the store’s surveillance footage.

Two hours later, officers stopped Ford, who was walking along Grand Avenue, and saw his clothing and physical description matched the burglary suspect. Police confiscated two packs of cigarettes they believe Ford stole from the Harps and placed Ford under arrest after a detective interviewed him.
