A man and a woman were arrested on drug charges after a standoff during Wednesday at a Fort Smith duplex in the 2900 block of Alabama.

Michael Shane Jarvis was arrested on drug related charges and endangering the welfare of a minor. His girlfriend Shelley Worden was also arrested, according to a narcotics officer on the scene.

Jarvis was suspected of dealing methamphetamine and undercover narcotics officers had been investigating him for about three months, the officer said. When they went to arrest him, he barricaded himself inside the duplex on Alabama. Jarvis crawled up into the attic of the house and attempted to hide in the other half of the duplex, according to the officer.

After about two hours, Jarvis surrendered and was taken into custody, the officer said.

Two teens were also in the duplex at the time, according to police.
