Police arrested a Fayetteville man they say stole several items, including DVDs and women’s clothing, from his neighbor’s apartment.

Jerry Daggett, 50, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of felony theft of property and residential burglary. He remained in the Washington County Detention Center on Monday on $3,500 bond.

Police recovered what they believed to be stolen DVDs and packs of gum from Daggett’s apartment after witnesses told police they saw Daggett carrying a bag of clothing belonging to the victim. He was also seen carrying a TV and shelf, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

A woman had called police earlier in the day to report a burglary. Police suspect Daggett stole several items about 20 DVDs, a 15-inch flatscreen TV, a wooden shelf and a bag of women’s clothes, the report states.

Police believe Daggett gained entry to the apartment through the already-damaged front door, according to the report.
