Lt. Kevin Lewis with the Springdale Police Department said the incident happened at the alternative learning building.
"Evidently they had been on social network last night and determined that they were going to have a rift this morning, and they did, there were no serious injuries," said Rick Schaeffer, communications director with the Springdale School District.
He said the girls were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, and he is not sure why the girls got into the scuffle.
“One of the girls was apparently poked in the leg with a pencil,” Lt. Lewis said.
Schaeffer said any disciplinary action is a private matter and cannot legally be discussed.
