Poteau Man Wanted on Child Sex Charges Bonds Out of Jail

A Poteau businessman was arrested on multiple counts of child sex charges by the United States Marshals Service.

A Poteau businessman was arrested on multiple counts of child sex charges by the United States Marshals Service.

William Joseph LeRoux Jr., was booked into the LeFlore County Jail Monday afternoon, according to Billy Banks with the Marshals Service. He has since been released on a $25,000 fugitive bond, according to the jail.

“It is scary I mean when you think about you know it could happen to anybody,” said Christene McGee, a LeFlore County resident. “It could have happened to one of my grandkids.”

LeRoux owns a digital support and solution company called 701 Corp. located on Dewey Avenue. People in downtown Poteau say LeRoux has been operating his business downtown for about a year and a half.

LeRoux was wanted for 12 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and three counts of public sexual indecency in Maricopa County, Ariz. Police in Tempe, Arizona told 5NEWS they want to interview LeRoux about a sex crimes case from the 1990s.

Banks said they tracked LeRoux down thanks to a tip.

Businesses nearby told 5NEWS Leroux has a wife and kids. Some, who did not want to talk on camera, called LeRoux different.

5NEWS contacted LeRoux Tuesday about the arrest. He said, “It isn't as it has been made to seem.”

Late Tuesday night LeRoux told 5NEWS to contact his attorney, who was not available for comment.
