Republican Tom Cotton defeated Democrat Gene Jeffress in the race for the 4th Congresional District seat in Arkansas Tuesday night.

The former management consultant and Army veteran succeeds retiring Democratic Congressman Mike Ross.

“A big thank you to all of my supporters who came out and voted! I look forward to serving the great state of Arkansas!” cotton4congress tweeted Tuesday night.

Cotton was favored against Jeffress, a state senator from Louann who struggled with fundraising and organization. Cotton racked up endorsements from top Republicans, including Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
