A high school student was hit by a vehicle on Pointer Trail in Van Buren Thursday afternoon, according to police.
The 16-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, Det. Jonathan Wear said.
Wear said the girl is on the track team and was training off Pointer Trail when the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. She was hit while in the crosswalk at the intersection of Trenton and Pointer Trail.
The student is a 10th grader.
The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Wear wants to remind drivers that pedestrians have the right of way in the crosswalk.
