The University of Arkansas announced Thursday that it is looking into the possibility of expanding Reynolds-Razorback Stadium in the near future.

Arkansas currently boasts a stadium that has a seating capacity of 72,000 that can be expanded towards 80,000. The Razorbacks averaged just more than 70,000 in announced attendance in 2012.

Arkansas will look into what the cost for such an expansion, such as one in the north end zone that was proposed in October of 2011. That proposal was part of the Razorback Athletic Facilities Master Plan that was said to have a budget of $320 million for facility renovations and additions but will be a decades long process.

Any approved expansions would be paid for by athletic funds only and not funds from the general university budget.

In October of last year, the proposal said that the expansion would add more than 5,000 seats and could cost up to $95 million while adding field level suites and an outdoor club area.
