Bret Bielema has made his second coordinator hire. Jim Chaney at the University of Tennessee will become the next offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for Arkansas.

Chaney has been the offensive coordinator at Tennessee since 2009.

“Jim Chaney’s approach will blend well with my ideas as we work to put together a plan for the team we have and over time develop our specific philosophy,” said coach Bret Bielema.

Chaney also spent time in the NFL as an assistant for the St. Louis Rams from 2006-2008.

Before that, Chaney was the offensive coordinator at Purdue for eight years and coached an elite NFL quarterback.

“He has spent his career developing numerous players for the NFL including Drew Brees. He knows the SEC, having coached at Tennessee, and is familiar with what it takes to be successful in this conference. He is an upbeat and positive person who has proven at every stop he is an elite coach in our profession,” said Bielema.

Chaney has been know to run a spread offense and coach Bielema says he wants to blend those ideas and others to develop a balanced attack at Arkansas.
