Adam Eugene Lane, 23, was located in a home in the 1400 block of Dallas Street Friday night. A warrant for his arrest on charges of first degree battery and felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a $75,000 bond was issues earlier in the day.
Lane is accused of shooting 19-year-old Christian Michael Davis, of Arkoma, in the parking lot of D & J Auto Sales on Towson Avenue just before 2 a.m. on Dec. 20.
On Friday Darren Lee Bohlman, 28, and Joe Michael Jones, 52, were both arrested on the charges of Hindering Apprehension and Petition to Revoke a Suspended Sentence after authorities interviewed them about the shooting at Bohlman’s business.
Police say both Bohlman and Jones admitted to being there when Davis was shot by a light-skinned black man, but they denied knowing Lane. Each man claimed the shooter was a friend of the other’s, according to police
“Given the time frame that all this happened, that it was safe to believe that someone associated at that business had some knowledge of may have had some involvement in this shooting incident,” said Sergeant Daniel Grubbs of the Fort Smith Police Department.
Davis was taken to a local emergency room with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He underwent emergency surgery and is in stable condition. Police expect he will survive his injuries.
Police spoke with two witnesses who brought Davis to the hospital. Derek Young, 21, of Fort Smith, told police that his truck broke down Wednesday afternoon and he left it in the parking lot located at 2419 Towson, according to a police report.
Young said he called Court Cossey, 19, of Arkoma, who came to pick him up and give him a ride to a mutual friend’s house. There the two met up with Davis and drank alcohol for the next several hours, the report states.
Around 1:30 a.m. they returned to Towson Avenue to try to fix Young’s truck, the report states.
The group claims they were confronted by two white men and a light-skinned black man who came out of the garage of a car lot. Young told police that they exchanged words, then left to go get gas for his truck, the report states.
When they returned, the three unidentified men approached them and accused them of theft.
The suspect pulled a chrome semi-automatic pistol from his waistband and fired one shot that struck Davis, according to the report.
Investigators found blood at the alleged crime scene along with a jacket.
