A Springdale girl who used a wheelchair died Tuesday night, two days after suffering critical injuries in a one-car crash, a family member told 5NEWS.

Sara Reagan Christians was “fighting for her life” early Tuesday after her condition worsened, a different family member said. The family began “praying for a miracle,” she said.

Reagan, 7, was airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock following a one-car wreck Sunday at the intersection of Randall Wobbe Lane and Old Wire Road in Springdale. She suffered a life-threatening head injury, as well as non-life-threatening lacerations to her liver and spleen, a family member said at the time.

The car’s driver and Reagan’s mother, Claire Smith, was transported to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale with broken shins, a broken right foot and cracked ribs. Smith was listed in fair condition Monday.

Police said the adult was pinned between the seats and Reagan was in the back seat, unconscious but breathing.

Police said Smith drifted off the roadway. There was nothing Smith could have done to recover the car after it left the roadway, police said.

The driver was not intoxicated, and she faces no criminal charges, according to the Springdale Police Department.
