About two dozen voters living on a contested piece of land voted Tuesday to be annexed into Elm Springs.
Twenty-six ballots were cast in the special annexation election in which only 49 residents were eligible to vote. Twenty voters chose to be annexed into Elm Springs, while six voted to be annexed into Tontitown, according to unofficial results from the Washington County Election Commission.
Tontitown residents voted Dec. 11 to annex 88 acres near the city, about a month after Elm Springs voters chose to annex the same land.
The fate of the land in question was put to the residents living on the properties.
The land includes 23 address points, mostly in the Churchill Downs subdivision.
