A father and son were injured late Friday afternoon when their motorcycle collided with a Bentonville school bus, said Mary Ley, spokesperson for the Bentonville School District.

The patients' injuries are non-life-threatening, according to the Bella Vista Fire Department. Ley said the father and son on the motorcycle suffered broken bones.

One patient was transported by a Bentonville ambulance, while the other was taken to the hospital by the Bella Vista ambulance. No one on the bus was injured, and no children were hurt.

Five students were on the bus. One student was from Lincoln Junior High, while the other four belonged to the driver and were going home with her.

Police and firefighters responded to a Bentonville school bus crash at about 4:30 p.m. near Rolling Hills Drive and McNelly Road, according to the Bentonville Fire Department.

The motorcycle was traveling head-on toward the school bus, when the motorcycle lost control, Ley said.

The female bus driver took evasive action and swerved the bus off of the roadway. The motorcycle then collided with one of the bus' tires, Ley said.

The motorcycle was caught in a rut, and when the driver tried to react, the motorcycle lost control, Ley said.
