A Van Buren firefighter was arrested on domestic battery charges.

Robert Eric Lewis, 38, was arrested at his residence on Pernot Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday, (Jan. 23).

An officer was dispatched to the residence and found Lewis’ wife standing outside of the home crying, according to a police report. She told police she and Lewis began arguing and he lost his temper.

Lewis is accused of throwing dishes and food at her in the kitchen, according to the report. He then picked up a mirror and threw it at her, striking her in the face, she told police.

Lewis told the officer he had drank two beers that night. His blood alcohol was below the legal limit, the report states.

Lewis was taken to the Crawford County Detention Center. He’s expected to appear in court on Feb. 28.
