A Springdale man is behind bars after police say he choked a woman before raping her at a local motel.
Joshua Greer, 26, was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of aggravated assault and interference with emergency communications. He remained Tuesday night in the Washington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
A woman called police on Monday, telling them Greer placed his hands around her throat in a fit of rage and squeezed until she could not breathe. Greer then forced the woman to have sex with him and later stole her cell phone so she could not call police, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
There were bruises and scratches around the woman’s throat, the report states.
The incident allegedly occurred at the Hilltop Inn in Springdale on Monday.
The rape allegation remains under investigation, according to the preliminary report.
