Funeral services for William McGary, 26, a Conway officer who died from injuries he received while working a car accident last week, were held Wednesday (Feb. 6).

The funeral was scheduled for 1 p.m. at Valley Baptist Church in Searcy, with a graveside service to follow at a cemetery in Romance.

Calls to the Conway Police Department were re-routed Wednesday afternoon so all police employees can attend the funeral, according to a report from KTHV in Little Rock.

Officer McGary was helping direct traffic around a car accident when a vehicle driven by Barry Strickland, 31, of Conway, hit him last Thursday night (Jan. 31), according to LaTresha Woodruff with the Conway Police Dept.

McGary was airlifted from the scene to a Little Rock hospital due to the severity of his injuries, Woodruff said. He died the following evening.
