Police say they caught up to a boy and man suspected of burglarizing a Fayetteville elementary school by using the tracking equipment of the electronics the men stole from the school.

Another suspect was arrested Thursday in the burglary case where police say three suspects broke into a Fayetteville elementary school and stole $13,000 worth of electronics.

Jdonta Britt, 18, was arrested on suspicion of commercial burglary and theft of property. He remains in the Washington County Detention Center on $4,820 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation led police to Britt after another suspect in the alleged burglary told police Britt took part in the crime. That suspect, a juvenile male, was arrested Jan. 10 on suspicion of the burglary. The teenager also implicated a third suspect.

Police said the suspects broke into Butterfield Trail Elementary School on Christmas last year and stole 10 Apple iTouches, 12 Apple iPads, a Dell laptop computer, a Dell desktop computer, two digital cameras and other electronic equipment.

Investigators caught the juvenile suspect by following the devices’ tracking software, according to an arrest warrant affidavit from the Washington County Circuit Clerk’s Office.

Police also collected video surveillance of the burglary, police said.
