Prom can be expensive.  Teens spent an average of $1,078 last year on prom clothes, transportation, food, tickets, and other items in 2012, according to Visa.

A local event is hoping to combat those costs.  The Greenwood Senior Class of 2013 will host a Prom Fair, Saturday, February 9 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Prom Fair will feature more than 400 barely worn dresses from proms, pageants, and other formal events.  Vendors will also have accessories for sale, such as shoes, jewelry, and makeup.  Its being held at the Greenwood High School Student Union.

Those who have dresses they would like to sell in the fair can bring them to the GHS Student Union Friday from 4:30-8 p.m.

20 percent of sales will be retained to benefit the Bulldog Breakout.

The event has a $1 admission price on Saturday, and is open to the public.
