Several crashes were reported in Washington County Thursday morning in this strange mix of winter and spring storms.

Several bands of winter weather hit Northwest Arkansas over the last 24 hours.

From heavy snowfall Wednesday to freezing rain just before 5 a.m. Thursday, visibility was low for drivers along Interstate 540.

Lightning cracked across the sky, even thunder could be heard, during what some are calling “Thunder Sleet.”

But cold and soaked streets weren’t enough to keep the Fayetteville and Springdale public school districts from canceling classes.

Traffic moved slowly along interstate 540 but the Fayetteville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff's Office did not have any reports of major accidents along county and city streets.

Some power outages were reported.

The front moved out of the area by the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to warm up on Friday.
