The Junior League of Fort Smith held its annual "Kids in the Kitchen" event Saturday afternoon at the AMP'D Teen Center.

The event was free for children and their parents and featured a farmers' market, healthy snacks and stations designed to help children lean how to choose food that is good for them. There was also a rock climbing wall and other games.

"It's a national initiative with Junior Leagues all across the nation just to get kids healthy and get kids cooking," said Lauren Hall of the Junior League of Fort Smith.

The event is one of five projects the Junior League plans to hold this year.
