Bentonville Boys’ Swimming Wins 9th Straight State Title

The Bentonville Boys’ Swimming team won their 9th straight state championship beating second place Little Rock Central by 207.5 points.

Last Saturday the Bentonville Boys' Swimming team won their 9th straight state championship.  It's tough to win back to back state titles so it's safe to say after winning nine in a row the program is a dynasty.

"Nine in a row sets off something that is unprecedented in this state in a particular sport," said Bentonville Head Swimming Coach Nick Nersesian. "This didn't happen overnight, it happened with a lot of hard work and dedication from the veteran swimmers who come before them. They have passed on the torch to each one of these individuals and they have learned to move that forward each year."

The boys beat second place Little Rock Central High by 207.5 points.  This win was extra special for the senior class.

"Its always good to win the last along with all the other ones we have one," said Senior Gage Crosby.  "We had a great team this year and a lot of newcomers who really put in the time and effort and trained really hard and swam their hearts out."

Gage Crosby took first place in the 100 breast and set a new state record with his time of 56.70...he will be attending national powerhouse Arizona next year for college and has set high goals or himself

"Hopefully the Olympics in 2016 or 2020," said Crosby.  "Maybe an NCAA Team Championship and be an NCAA champion myself."
