Two University of Arkansas baseball players arrested in January on suspicion of shoplifting have been given a May 1 trial date in Fayetteville District Court, records show.
Arkansas freshmen pitchers Colin Poche and Adam Meyer were arrested Jan. 20 and released that same evening on a $565 bond each, records show.
Poche and Meyer attempted to steal two cases of beer and deli sandwiches from a Fayetteville Walmart, according to the preliminary arrest report from Fayetteville District Court.
Meyer assumed a “look-out position” as Poche took the two cases of beer and put them in a tote bag in their cart, the report states.
The two left the store without attempting to purchase the items, according to the report.
Poche was a fifth round pick in the 2012 Major League draft, but chose to attend Arkansas instead of signing with the Baltimore Orioles. He was recently named SEC Freshman of the Week.
