A Springdale man was arrested late Wednesday night (March 13) on suspicion of killing two of his infant sons over the last two years, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Travis Fox, 24, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder. He remains in the Washington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

The first of Fox's two alleged victims died in 2011, after which the Sheriff's Office and West Fork police conducted an investigation into the six-month-old boy's death. An autopsy and subsequent medical examiner's findings indicated the death was suspicious, but the cause of death was inconclusive, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Washington County officials responded Wednesday to the death of a seven-month-old baby in Springdale. A neighbor told 5NEWS the baby's mother came to her house and said frantically that her baby was not breathing. The neighbor performed CPR but was unable to bring the child back to life.

A deputy coroner recognized the baby's father as the subject of the 2011 investigation and notified authorities, according to the Sheriff's Office.

During an interview with detectives Wednesday, Fox admitted to shaking his six-month-old son in 2011 for 30 to 45 seconds because he was "fussing", the Sheriff's Office stated. Fox allegedly said he had been drinking tequila at the time.

Fox said he drank five beers in one hour before shaking his infant son Wednesday, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor's Office. He also told police he drank five beers in one hour that night before shaking the baby.

"Mr. Fox said he was angered and tired because he was up for two days without sleep," the reporting officer writes in the report.

A medical examiner's report shows the six-month-old died from several injuries, including a mild edema and hemorrhaging in his neck, according to the preliminary report.

Fox has a criminal history that reaches back to 2009, when he was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, theft of property, breaking and entering and theft by receiving. He pleaded guilty to all felony counts the same year, receiving a plea deal of five years probation, according to court documents.

Fox's address is listed as Ashlee Drive in Springdale on the preliminary report. The Washington County Detention Center intake report shows his address as North 31st Street in Rogers.
