A Fayetteville man faces child rape charges after police say he forcibly fondled a young girl.

Samuel Allen, 23, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of rape. He remained Monday in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

A three-year-old girl told police Allen fondled her. Allen told detectives in an interview that he was sexually abused as a child and has struggled with it, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.

Allen told police he could not remember whether he fondled the girl, but said it was possible, according to the preliminary report. Allen said he has struggled with substance abuse and recently overdosed on methadone, police said.

Fayetteville police arrested Allen. The Arkansas Department of Human Services and Arkansas State Police were also involved in the investigation.
