Springdale police are searching for suspects they say set up a fake veterans’ booth at a Walmart store, looking for donations.

Witness told police people in leather vests and military apparel set up a booth outside of the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Market Square in Springdale on March 2. Police do not believe the apparent military veterans were legitimate, as the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs does not solicit outside funding, according to the Springdale Police Department.

The booth displayed a brochure for Veterans Services, police said.

The suspects, if caught, may faces charges of criminal impersonation for allegedly pretending to be an employee of the government, according to Springdale police.

Anyone with any information on the case, or other similar cases, is encouraged to call the Springdale Police Department at 479-751-4542.
